This year’s activities commemorated the thirty (30) years of existence and contribution of Ebony Park Academy to the sector and it was an excellent way of marking the anniversary.
HEART Trust/NTA held its pride of place in the “Youth in Agriculture Village”; with an impressive booth which included the finest Agriculture and hospitality displays from our flagship institution - Ebony Park Academy, an active recruitment corner manned by team members from the South Western Regional Office as well as an IT/animation display by the Vocational Training Development Institute (VTDI) – Mandeville Campus. The VTDI used their solar energy panels to provide alternate power supply for the booth at times when the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) could not keep up with the intense demand from the many patrons.
A crowd favourite was the agriculture display of crops being grown vertically. A spiral hydroponics display… twisting artwork of plastic pipes utilizing a space of three square feet in which sixty lettuce plants were being grown. Hydroponics depicts plants being grown in a soilless medium.
